The port is located at about 110 nautical miles south of Mumbai. The Concession Agreement was signed in June, 2008 with M/s JSW Jaigarh Port Ltd., a constituent company of Jindal Group. The Port will have seven berths with a draught of 14 metres at an investment of about 1000 crores. The port complex will have a 1200 MW coal-based thermal power plant and a port-based SEZ. This port is expected to handle about 18 MTPA, when fully operational. The first two berths having a total length of 550 metres are on the verge of commissioning and expected to start cargo operations from September/ October, 2009.
