This port is located in Sindhudurg Dist., about 150 nautical miles south of Mumbai. The Concession Agreement was signed in March, 2008 with M/s Vijaydurg Ports Pvt. Ltd., a constituent company of Jupiter Group. The first phase of port project comprises of four berths at an investment of about 1000 crores. This port is expected to be commissioned by 2012-13, and when fully operational it will handle about 75 MTPA. Various studies are being conducted and detailed project report is under preparation.
